Segment 1: Indian Creek

Indian Creek to South Platte

A Few Comments:

In 2011 I experienced Segment 1 from the Indian Creek trailhead twice. And each time I was reminded right away that biking the Colorado Trail is not just about ‘the bike’, it’s about ‘the hike’ too… hike-a-bike… learn to love it.

That’s right, there is not much to say other than Segment 1 is no ‘ride in the park’. After an easy descent the trail goes up and down and around, a couple of time.. Then after the two trails merge, one from Indian Creek and the other from Watertown Canyon, you’ll cruise down a fun descent, BUT be ready for a long hike-a-bike.

Water? There is a small stream before the long hike-a-bike. But if you’re on a bike and need water at this point – you didn’t plan very well. A through hiker? Yeah, you’ll probably want some water before the long climb, maybe.

Camping? Near the small stream. That’s about it. But why would you want to camp on Segment 1? Just joking. (Not really.)
